4.6 The Taste of Summer: Grilled BBQ Chicken Drumsticks

First Thing First: Let's Talk About Those LEGS!

When we think summer, cooking on the grill always comes into everyone's mind. It's fun, relaxing, and good food always seems to bring people close together. Grilling BBQ chicken drumsticks is super easy with a tasty rewarding meal. Before you cook the drumsticks, always rinse the chicken off with cold running water to decrease your risk of food poisoning.

Now Let's Get Cooking!

  1. Preheat Your Grill.   For a safe temperature range, preheat your grill around 375 to 400 degrees. Once your grill is hot and ready, add the drumsticks.
  2. Steady The Drumsticks. Place the drumsticks on the direct heat side of the grill and cook them for about 30 to 35 minutes. It's always a good idea to flip them over every 5 or 7 minutes to reduce burning on the sides. After those minutes pass, use a thermometer and insert it in the drumsticks until it reads around 165 degrees F. Always make sure your chicken isn't raw or appear bloody. If it appears too pink or red, keep cooking additional minutes until the colors fade away.
  3. Now The Fun Part-Add Your Sauce! Place the drumsticks to the indirect side of the grill, and add your favorite BBQ sauce (My family always uses Sweet Baby Ray's bbq sauce).
  4. Let It Sit. Once your sauce is added, let the drumsticks grill for another 5 to10 minutes until the sauce looks settled in.(refer to picture below.) Before taking them off the grill, check the internal temperature, and see if it reaches 175 degrees F.
  5. Sit Back, Relax, and Enjoy Your Masterpiece! Don't forget to grab extra napkins to wipe your hands off. (That's not your pant's job!)

  1. Hello! I loved reading your post, it made me hungry and want to try this recipe before snow starts and it gets colder. I enjoyed your use of a list for the steps, it served the purpose of easily informing and guiding the reader. I did not love how you made the "now for the fun part" smaller than the rest of the titles. I understand you where making it fun, but I almost had wished you kept that out for more conciseness. Keep up the good work!
