6.6 Tired of boring vacations? Try Italy for an adventure your taste buds will never forget. By Tamsyn E. Hudack

Ever since I was in high school, I’ve longed to visit Italy. I even used to grade my math assignments in Italian because I loved the country and the language so much. This obsession has made Italy the "ultimate travel destination" for me.

So, Why Italy?

The two main reasons I would want to go to Italy amid many other reasons are:

  • The food
  • The sights

Pizza, Pasta, and More
While pizza might be everyone's first thought when they think of Italian food, there are many other delicious options for consumption while vacationing in Italy. Though pizza will forever be #1 in my heart.

The Walks of Italy page also recommends tasty options include lasagna, risotto, and carbonara. Not to mention coffee and gelato to help finish off your meal. Flavor is something that you'll never be short on during this adventure.

The Sights of Venice

While many areas of Italy are incredibly beautiful, I have always been drawn to Venice. Between the canals that weave throughout the city to the awe-inspiring architecture, the city is breathtaking. The Italian Tourism Official Site offers many ideas of what to explore while in the capital of the Veneto region of Italy. My first stop would probably be St. Mark's Basilica because it is so iconic to the area and I'm sure I could make a whole day of exploring all the history that Venice has to offer.

Let's Go!

Whether you're going to Italy for the food, the sights, the history, or just to get away from your mundane day-to-day life, exploring Italy is a trip you're never going to forget.

6.6 My Perfect Day in Rome, From Dawn to Dusk

My Perfect Day in Rome, From Dawn to Dusk

What a dream to eat gelato on cobblestone streets,  stand amongst breathtaking architecture, and feel inspired by the history of life that stands before you. This dream is Rome. If I am ambitious enough to dream of such a place, I will make an ambitious itinerary to match.

This is my perfect day in Rome from dawn to dusk.

06:00 A.M.

I’d begin my day by watching the sunrise at Piazza Navona, a public square where I can sit on a bench and watch the sunrise slowly illuminate both the buildings and the people.  As locals and tourists bustle by, I would ruffle through my pocketbook of Italian translations, preparing myself for a day of adventure.

Flickr Piazza Novana           Piazza Navona

08:00 A.M.

Food is the language we all love and know, I speak it fluently myself. Therefore, a Roman bakery is where I’d find myself next. Starting the day with a baked bun, golden to perfection, and cup of dark roast coffee steaming in my hand, I’d be ready to walk around the plaza exploring all the nooks and crannies it has to offer.

12:00 P.M.

With a quick train ride from Rome to Vatican City, I’d be able to view the breathtaking artwork in the Sistine Chapel. My next stop would be to the Gardens of Vatican City for a breath of fresh air. I’d get the chance to see the beauty of ancient statues amidst the new life of the beautiful green space.

Wikimedia Commons Vatican Gardens           Gardens of Vatican City

2:00 P.M

Going back into the city, my historical pursuits continue to the heart of Rome at the Colosseum. This would truly  be a sight to behold as I would be standing in the presence of history.  Within a short walk, I would find myself at other historical markers such as the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, architecture that has withstood the test of time, leaving me breathless. I believe the Italian actor Alberto Sordi said it best, "Rome is not like any other city. It's a big museum, a living room that shall be crossed on one's toes."

4:00 P.M.

Dinner would be my next conquest of the night. I could have nothing other than the world famous Roman perfection on a plate; pasta. Fresh tomatoes, basil straight from the garden, and homemade pasta noodles, served from a small family owned restaurant with candlelit seating would be a perfect space to reflect on the beauty I had witnessed that afternoon around Rome.

06:00 P.M.

I would love to find myself at no other place than the Trevi Fountain at sunset. To toss a coin into the beautiful fountain and make a wish to be whisked away by a young Italian man on a moped, would be the quintessential way to start my night in Rome. In the words of Lizzie McGuire, beloved tween idol of the mid 2000's, "This is what dreams are made of."

Flickr Trevi Fountain           Trevi Fountain

8:00 P.M.

To end the night, I may be lactose intolerant, but ‘when in Rome,’ I must try the gelato. A frozen delight to cut through the heat of the night is exactly what I’d need after a long day of traveling.

I would like to hope the dream of traveling to Rome isn’t too far off. In the meantime, checkout my Instagram and Facebook pages to see more travel related content!

6.6 Ancient Ruins and Sapphire Waters.

Breathtaking views, historical sights, what more could a girl want?

I've always had a fascination with beautiful, sunny destinations like tropical islands. The idea of being able to wake up the sound of waves on the beach and a warm breeze always appealed to me. This is likely due to the strike contrast island living has with living in the American Midwest. I've been to the coast a few times sure, but the chance to visit an island paradise seems like an absolute dream to me. My friends and I were even planning on taking an island trip earlier this year but unfortunately had to cancel due to the current health crisis. It's okay though, it gives us a chance to save up for an extra special trip, now we just have to decide where to go.

Now, there is no shortage of beautiful islands to visit, the state of Hawaii alone could fit the bill and would not even require a passport. Yet I've always loved the idea of visiting another country, preferably one with a culture a little different than our own, particularly one with a lot of history. So for my dream location, I would most likely pick the Caribbean country of Belize.
Pier in Placencia, Belize
Pier View in Placencia, Belize
Belize has just about everything I could possibly want in a vacation destination:
  • Gorgeous beaches
  • Clear waters
  • Oceanic activities
      • Warm weather
It even has
      • Ancient ruins and
      • Diverse rainforest
So no matter what I end up being in the mood for while on the trip, I know I can find something to make it memorable. Just as importantly my friends would be able to find something they enjoy as well, which is great as we tend to have different ideas on what our "ideal" vacation is. So picking a place with equal opportunity for fun and relaxation would be perfect for us.

Ancient Ruins and Colonial History

Ruins in Belize
I love studying history in my spare time(when I'm not doing one of my other dozen hobbies) and although ancient history is usually not my forte, the ability to visit the ruins of a culture like the Mayans would be amazing, and there seems to be no shortage of them in Belize. Between the Mayan civilization and its history as a British colony, Belize has a lot of history and it's government system even mimics that of the United Kingdom, in no small part due to only recently gaining their independence. I think it would be interesting to visit a society that didn't entirely reject the system set up by the British Empire, but rather adopted their own version.

Conservation

Addmidetly, not the first thing one thinks of when deciding on where to visit, but it is difficult to ignore the impact humans have had on marine wildlife in recent years. This would usually make me wary of being a tourist in an area with so much nature, as high tourism and high population density can be detrimental to forests and wildlife. The Belize government seems to understand this, however, because they have strict conservation laws in place to minimize the damage to their local climate. Just last year they expanded on the areas

of protected marine life, more information available here. This is crucial for both their local population and their tourism industry, as a big draw to the area is their ocean views and scuba diving experience.

Not Sure I'd Ever Leave

My biggest struggle at the end of every vacation I take is forcing myself to leave. Usually, I fall in love with the place halfway through the trip, with only my work and family obligations (and lack of funds) pulling me back home. I'm sure Belize would be no exception, in fact, my friends and family would not be surprised if I started trying to move there the second we arrive. Between beautiful sights, a rich history, and strong conversation efforts, I might just fall in love with it at first sight.

Five Reasons Why You Must Go To Bermuda

Anywhere that is warm, has water, unlimited cocktails, and no responsibilities is a dream vacation for me. However, if you add the breathtaking pink beaches, short flights, and caves, these are just a few of the reasons you should go to this 21 square mile island.

1. Short Flights: Flights from the east coast to Bermuda are about 2 hours. Short flights mean more time on vacation and less time spent next to the airplane's stinky person or crying baby. This is already a win-win scenario. Do I really need to continue?
Pink Beach in Bermuda

2. Pink Beaches:
Beaches in Bermuda are pink. Crazy, right? There are tiny single-celled organisms called Foraminifera. When they die off, they mix with the coral and crushed rock, and once it makes its way to the shore, the mixture appears pink on land. This may not be entirely enticing, maybe on the border of gross. However, if real men wear pink, really cool people go to Bermuda.

3. Nightlife: When you can sleep in and relax all day, you can actually stay up past 8 p.m. The nightlife in Bermuda looks so exhilarating. Everything from Calico Jack's Floating Bar, where you are on a pirate ship, to The Dog House that hosts live music, comedians, and big screen tv's so you don't miss your favorite sports back home. There is something for everyone's interest.

4. Crystal Caves: There are some amazing caves in Bermuda; some of these caves inspired the creators of Fraggle Rock, one of my favorite shows when I was a child. The views of these caves are breathtaking online. I can't imagine how beautiful they look in person.
Rum Swizzle
Unofficial Drink of Bermuda

5. Rum Swizzle:
I have never heard of a rum swizzle, but while I was researching destinations, every place that suggested Bermuda mentioned the Rum Swizzle. After some thorough research, the rum swizzle consists of light and dark rum, various juices, and a few other little ingredients topped off with a cherry, orange slice, and pineapple chunk. This is healthy because it has fruit in it.

These are just a few of the reasons to go. The amazing pink beaches are what caught my eye when looking for a vacation spot. Ok, maybe it was the rum swizzles too. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

6.6 Belgium, the place to be

Belgium, The Place To Be

Belgium, what is the first thing you think of when you hear that? Waffles? That is most likely what you thought of. Belgium is much more than waffles. I have always wanted to go to Belgium just because of the pure beauty behind it. I remember back in high school I was in history class and we mentioned Belgium briefly so I got curious. I looked it up and fell in love with it. From the food to the mountains I always wanted to experience such a thing. There are a couple issues from me going to Belgium. From where I live in Eau Claire, Belgium is 4,152 miles away. Then, I am a young individual who is going to school and working. Thankfully, in high school, there was an opportunity to go to Europe with a teachers organization he ran through the school. On the list were 7 countries in 14 days. On that list was Belgium and that is what I was excited for.
I was 16 at the time and the trip wasn't till I was after I had graduated and 18. At this point had to work hard and save my money for this trip because which 16-18 year old has enough money to go to Europe. Fast forward to the summer of my senior year. I had saved enough to go and I was very excited. I had the opportunity to go and I was just getting into photography at the time. I was a little nervous that week. I had never been on a plane for 8 hours straight before. I was also graduating on a Tuesday and I was leaving for the two week trip to Europe on Friday. I had to prepare. I had a list of what I had to bring to be prepared for the two weeks for taking pictures so I made a list.
  • My grandpa's film camera from WW2
  • Five rolls of Kodak Porta 400
  • Digital Camera
  • Extra battery
  • All necessary cords and adapters (8 total)

The Trip

The night before takeoff I could not sleep. I kind of wanted to do that so I could sleep the whole 8 hours. The next day I got on the plane and had everything I needed. I was perfectly fine on the trip and that was great. I did not have to worry about that and that was one of my main worries at the time. They say save the best for last but Belgium was the first stop. The first day we settled in the hotel and everyone wanted to relax from just traveling for 18 hours. I had another plan for myself. I was going to wake up earlier than everyone and wander off to take pictures. We were leaving at 8 am so I had to get up at 6 am the next morning. I walked a mile or two into the town and took this picture.
Morning in Belgium

That morning ended up being one of my favorite times. I was in this foreign small town by myself with headphones in. Taking in everything around me, it was amazing. I had to get back to the hotel because we were going to the mountains 3 hours away. Since I didn't sleep the night before I slept the way there. We got there and it was another reason I always wanted to go there. It was the prettiest view I saw in my life.

The mountains were so different in real life compared to pictures. I still had to take a picture so here it is.

Parachuter in the Mountains
Ever since I left have always wanted to go back. It is still my dream vacation since I did not experience it by myself. I would love to experience a trip to Belgium with my friends. Hopefully in the next 3 years and we can make trips an annual occurrence.

6.6, Temples and Tides: A Dream Vacation

Traveling abroad always feels surreal to me. After all the hours diving into a new travel book and loosely planning my vacation, I finally get to live it. Each day brings a new whirlwind of adventure—new sights, new landscapes, new foods—and my half-plans leave space for serendipity, leading me to experiences I never could’ve planned for. By the time I return home to my mundane reality, it all seems like a dream.

But then it’s time to plan the next trip.

Thailand has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. Photos of the country reveal lush landscapes, dreamy coastlines, and golden architecture. Friends who have visited recall a mix of adventure and cultural appreciation. All these details sound like the makings of a perfect trip to me.

Buddhist temples pepper the country, over 33,000 in fact, with each displaying their own architectural brilliance. While researching which of the many temples I should visit, one in particular jumped out at me: Wat Rong Khun, or the White Temple.

Wat Rong Khun Temple
Wat Rong Khun

Built in 1997, this artist-designed temple is striking with its all-white exterior and intricate detailing. A bridge to the temple guides visitors over a pool of reaching arms that, according to Lonely Planet, symbolizes desire. Paintings inside the temple depict contemporary images, such as Hello Kitty and Keanu Reeves. While this modern temple doesn’t carry as much of Thailand’s rich history, it sure is attention-grabbing.

Thailand’s natural scenery holds up to its constructed beauty. Along the southern coastline, craggy, green cliffs give way to turquoise water, creating awe-inspiring sights and opportunities for sea adventures. Koh Tapu, pictured below, is one of these sights. Popularized by a James Bond movie, this precarious-looking island is known to many as "James Bond Island."

Koh Tapu
Koh Tapu

While planning my dream vacation to Thailand, however, it is important to consider how my presence may negatively impact the country. As an American, I possess ample privilege when traveling. It is up to me to ensure that I do so responsibly and respectfully. There are four factors of conscious tourism I always consider when preparing for a trip.

Planning Ahead: Conscious Tourism

  • Research cultural norms. Avoid faux pas by learning more about the day-to-day culture. Some innocuous gestures in America may be considered rude elsewhere.
  • Avoid animal tourism. Many tourist activities involving elephants, tigers, and monkeys mistreat their animals, even if they’re promoted as “sanctuaries.” If you’d like to interact with these animals, conduct thorough research on ethical practices and organizations.
  • Look for less-populated destinations. Popular tourist destinations are often overcrowded, which can lead to environmental destruction. For instance, Thailand’s Maya Bay was indefinitely closed to tourists in 2018 after an influx of partiers destroyed 80% of its coral reef. When planning your trip, consider which tourist attractions you’re willing to skip in favor of something lesser-known.

Equal parts of daydreaming and preparation make an enjoyable trip for me. Add in natural beauty and cultural sights, and I have a dream vacation. What sights and experiences are important for you to consider when planning a trip? Do you prefer the beach or sightseeing? Lounge or adventure?

In other words, Thailand is my dream vacation - what’s yours?

Orange County: The Creator's Paradise

Beautiful View of Orange County
Doheny State Beach

As a college student with a passion for creation, I've always to visit somewhere where creativity is everywhere. I want to experience waking up somewhere incredibly beautiful where I feel limitlessly inspired. I believe that place for me is Orange County, California. Exploring pictures there extremely motivates me to visit the breathtaking views with my own two eyes.

What Makes Orange County so Inspiring?

For starters, Orange County has some of the most unique beaches in the world. Many town natives there say that you will experience a different vibe in each beach city you explore. For example, looking at Laguna Beach photos give me an artsy, creative feel. Where looking at pictures from Huntington beach looks really relaxing and nostalgic feeling. I also believe that you would experience some of the best workouts in your life there. According to CBS Los Angeles, Santiago Oaks Regional Park is one of the best places to go mountain biking. There is an endless amount of outdoor activities that you can take apart in. Here are a few more of those wonderful activities:
  • Sailing
    df
    Mountain Biking on Huntington Beach
  • Surfing
  • Kayaking
  • Camping
  • Hiking

Places to Visit

From visiting exotic animals to sunbathing on a beautiful beach, Orange County has it all. According to Orange Coast Magazine, the Crown of the Sea beach is one of the most scenic beaches to go to. Another thing I love about Orange County is that it is close to so many awesome places such as Los Angeles to San Diego. Some of the main places to visit in Orange County are:

  • Huntington City Beach

  • Doheny State Beach

  • Laguna Coast Wilderness Park

  • The Tide Pools

  • Orange County Pool

  • Orange County Great Park

The Current Dilemma

As much as I would want to go there tomorrow, given Orange County's current state I wouldn't
Wildfires in Orange County
recommend it. Not only are they experiencing a rise in Covid cases, but there are also immense wildfires tearing through the county currently. It is heartbreaking to see beautiful, scenic places being burned to ash. Once things start to calm down there, I'm getting the first flight to Orange County.

When the time is right, I think it would be worth your while to explore this beautiful area at least once in your lifetime. If you have a creative mind like myself, the sparked creativity that this trip would give you is priceless. Not only that but the memories that you would gain last a lifetime.

6.6 Milan: The Diamond of My Dreams

I am used to living a quieter life; enjoying simple things. Now, I’m here thinking about my dream vacation, and I’m completely overwhelmed. I have never thought about what I would do, or where I would go if nothing held me back.

Maybe I’m wrong here, but I think we women tend to neglect thinking about ourselves. We’re naturally inclined to care for and put others above ourselves. We forget that our hopes and dreams are just as important. The opportunity to plan my dream vacation, as simple as an exercise as it may seem, reminded me that dreams don’t have to stay tucked away as diamonds locked in my imagination.

When I think about the things that bring out the diamonds of my dreams, three things ignite my curiosities and excitement the most: food, fashion, and theater. Tokyo was among one of my top three choices for its culture, food, and street fashion. Milan, Italy eventually won me over. While Milan is most-known for its fashion, Milan is also home to extraordinarily beautiful theaters, quaint shops, and opera houses. I could list my must-see Milan destinations for days, but I won’t. However, here are three of the most talked-about go tos for anyone who finds themselves in Milan:

1.    La Scala Opera House Walking Tour:

An inside view of La Scala Opera House in Milan, Italy.

This walking tour is perfect for anyone who has an affinity for classical music and architecture. This walking tour takes visitors through the La Scala Opera House and highlights the favorite destinations of famous opera composer, Giuseppe Verdi.

2.    Corso Como District:

Guests enjoy meals outside of cafes and shops in the Corso Como District.

Travelers describe this area of Milan as “posh and fabulous.” It’s full of quaint cafes and restaurants where guests can savor local Italian pasta and wines. It’s also a perfect place for taking in Milan’s nightlife or finding some new Milan fashions to add to your closet back home.

3.    La Casa Maledetta:

TripAdvisor rated this experience as #1 among several options for theatrical escapades in Milan. This Live Action Role Play experience takes guests through the haunted “Casa Maledetta” where they find themselves immersed in a horror story. It’s a different take on the escape room activities we typically hear about.

I may not get to Milan soon. It’ll take me quite some time to update my wardrobe and save those pennies. ;-) But, this big ol’ diamond tucked away in my dreams will shine brightly one day. And ladies, the diamonds of your dreams will too shine brightly in time. Just do me a favor, don’t be like me and forget about yourself or your dreams—no matter how far fetched they seem to be. Remember the words of the motivational author, Kamil Thomas: “Your mind is a powerful thing. When you fill it with positive thoughts, your life will start to change.”

Where Can You Find an Old City With Some Spice?

The Spice Hub of the World
https://elements.envato.com/fes-PL7ND7B
A Typical Morrocan Door

Morocco historically is one of, if not the largest spice trading hubs of the world. It also has many different areas, from coastal cities to arid deserts. It is home to one of the older trading cities called Marrakech, one of Africa's most visited cities. It has many offerings to tourists that enjoy shopping and eating. The small winding alleys in the souks (Arab for market) of Marrakech are filled with many different street vendors offering fresh ground spices or leather goods. These markets are bustling and can be challenging to navigate. Inexperienced travelers should be wary of cons in the form of helpful guides. Using a map and preplanning a route is a great idea.

Historical Landmarks Beg to be Seen Again

Marrakech also has great historical significance. The Medersa Ben Youssef is a beautiful sixteenth-century school that features breathtaking architectural features. Jemaa el-Fnaa is a massive open market where shopping and eating can be done. However, one of the most exciting things about this city-center square is the street performers. Everything from trained animals to sword eaters can be seen. If the crowded streets aren't your thing, you can take a short trek out of the city to the Atlas Mountains.

A Far Away Exotic Place

Because Marrakech and the surrounding countryside offer so much, it is one of my must-see destinations. The primary reasons for me to visit are:

https://elements.envato.com/spices-in-marrakech-LC6YM2X
Spices Traded in the Souk

  • The food is excellent
  • The city offers so much to see
  • Beautiful historical sites are abundant
  • Hikes through the National Park

These reasons, coupled with it being an extremely old city that has somehow held onto the past and yet embraced the future with tourism. Due to Marrakech being so tourist-friendly, it is also a relatively safe place to travel to. This has been a dream of mine to walk through the souks and talk to spice traders and antique dealers for many years. The pure and raw historic energy seems to surge through the city. To me it seems like a perfect place that anyone would enjoy.

6.6 Take a Trip to This City for the Most Magical Christmas Experience

It's the most wonderful time of the year! 🌲 The time of year where you can cozy up by the fireplace with a delicious hot cocoa, enjoy ice-skating, and see beautiful lights. Everyone is much kinder and more apt to help others this time of year, which makes my heart so happy. For me, Christmas is a magical time, and there's no better place to amplify that magic than New York City.
rockefeller-christmas-tree

Why New York City?

Everywhere you go, you'll feel the Christmas spirit. All of the storefront windows are decorated, the amazing Christmas markets are open, special Christmas shows, and all of the lights you could ever want to see. Let's not forget some of the best Christmas movies set in NYC! My favorites are Miracle on 34th Street, Elf, and Home Alone 2. There are so many reasons to visit NYC; I think the real question here is, why not

Lea Michele says it best in Glee- "Being in New York is like falling in love. Over and over again, every minute."

5 Things You'll Want to Do While There

  • Visit Rockefeller Plaza
    • You'll see the famous Rockefeller tree while showing off some ice-skating skills.
  • Attend The Nutcracker
    • This well-known show at the NYC Ballet is something you don't want to miss.
  • Check out Santaland at Macy's
    • Whether you have kids or want to feel like a kid again, this place is fun for all.
  • Take a Carriage Ride
    • Get romantic and take a stroll through Central Park on a horse-drawn carriage.
  • Eat at Tavern On the Green
    • Eat at this iconic landmark that's now an elegant, romantic restaurant.
Prepare further for your trip by checking out Jenny Bhatia's traveling blog, where she talks about her experience in NYC during Christmas. She says, "New York City is absolutely beautiful. The sites are truly breathtaking. Just walking through Times Square is exhilarating."

Where to Stay

AirBnB's are becoming increasingly popular. I recommend staying near a subway for ease of travel, and you can also search for places close to a specific landmark. For example, this townhouse is located in the historic brownstone on the upper west side. It is very spacious and only a short walk from Central Park!

radio-city-music-hall
If a hotel is more of your style, I highly recommend The Palace, which has impressive ar
chitecture and is situated right in central NYC. However, if you have it in your budget, I'd recommend splurging on a once-in-a-lifetime experience at the Ritz-Carlton.

If this trip isn't already on your bucket list, you'll want to add it right away. I've been dreaming of this trip ever since I was a little girl because every movie makes it seem so magical. It will be a memorable trip that will fill your heart with endless joy. So go ahead, get your trip booked and get ready for that Christmas magic. 💓

Tell me all about your NYC trip in the comments!

6.6 Traveling to A different Country Can be Very Dangerous: This is Why

Theres pickpocketing, theres many things you do not know about the country, the diverse culture, and language barrier. It is very easy to get lost if your not with a tour guide. You could also come up on some dangerous places in that country. There are also very dangerous Countries to visitThis is a map of the most dangerous places to go to in the world.

Why Italy Is Worth the Trip

In every movie, the couple always jets off to Italy on a romantic trip. Sometimes movie magic makes us feel like we can't have as much fun as they are. Italy can be great for a romantic getaway, an educational trip for the kids, or a nice relaxing beach trip. I've always wanted to visit!

Here are the top 5 reasons why Italy is worth the trip.

  •   Preserved History
The Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy

Visiting Italy is like bringing a history book to life! According to Civitatis Rome, the Roman Empire was officially established by Augustus Caesar in 31 BC. Through the years Italy has changed and grown, but luckily a lot has been preserved. Stop at The Collesuem, Pompeii, or the Leaning Tower of Pisa. There is a lot to learn about, and there's no better way than to immerse yourself in the environment.

  • Amazing Food
Surely I can't be the only one who plans their trips around food? There is no better place to go for delicious meals! Fresh vegetables, delicious pasta, and of course the legendary wine. Every meal in Italy feels like grandma's good cooking and is sure to be a favorite food destination.

  • Beautiful Culutre
I checked out Espresso Translations which really highlighted the unique culture that encompasses the country. It is a wonderful mix of family, religion, food, language, art, and many more. Together it blends to make a country that is fiercly loyal. With the article mentioning, "Italy is home to over 62 million people and of that population around 96% are of Italian heritage." Their culture is so appealing because they have maintained a very traditional culture.

  • Religion
Inside of a cathedral in Italy

As mentioned in their culture, religion is a big part of the country. Christianity, Catholism specifically, is a very important belief system. If you are religious, Italy is a very spiritual place to connect with your faith. If you aren't, the cathedrals are a beautiful sight that is a must-see.

  • Art
A constant you may have noticed in the rest of the list, is the beautiful architecture. Spending time walking around can be a unique experience if you are visiting from a younger country. The age of the country allows for much of the architecture to highlight a time that we aren't firsthand familiar with. Some of the best artists have come from Italy, so this is a great trip for all the art lovers out there.

I hope to someday visit Italy, and learn even more about the beautiful country. There's breathtaking art, a long history, deep culture, and faithful experiences. This would be the ultimate trip for everyone!

As a young man in my mid-twenties, I've always wanted to travel and see the world before I decided I want to settle down, and London is the adventure I've always wanted.  I've had many family members travel abroad told me London was definitely worth it. This only excited me more and as a natural adventurer and a free-spirited heart, traveling to the capital of the United Kingdom is at the top of my list.

What about London?
London is one of the most popular and main attractions in the world. The main reason people want to travel abroad is that they want to explore different parts of the world. This includes the scenery, the different cultures, and just the country itself. That is the reason why I want to see London first handed. Most of the main attractions in London are:

1. Buckingham Palace
2. Big Ben
3. The Tower of London and Tower Bridge
4. The British Museum
5. The Parliament
6. Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square
7. The Shard
8. Hyde Park
9. Covent Garden
10. The London Eye

Tell Me More UK's Capital
London has such great scenery. Although it is one of the most developed cities in the world, London retains a lot of its vintage looks from the early 1900s. Haven't you ever wondered what it would be like to be in the places that some of our founding fathers lived? And as we all know it, the vintage feel gives everyone that relaxed vibe that is just so stress-free. When it comes to culture, London is very popular for its verity of arts. This includes its music, museums, theaters, festivals, and its lifestyle. Much like the U.S London also listens to a wide verity of music and hosts multiple music festivals per year. Also, as we know it, there are a few major artists from the UK that we also listen to like Sam Smith and Adele. However, the most popular type of music is classical music and opera. One major attraction that draws travelers to London is also the night/party life. According to the article called The 11 Best Party Cities in the World found on the website Kayak.co.uk published on September 12, 2017, the city of London comes in 10th. When most people think about the word party, they think crazy binge drinking and living like a young adult in college. However, London hosts many types of parties. Events that range from club parties to simple wine-tasting parties. The idea is that there are different niches of parties and there is always one for you.

Although there are so many wonderful places yet to explore, London is the number one destination I would love to visit. UK's capital includes great scenery, has a verity of cultures that are accepted in their community, and possesses multiple types of nightlife to fit your niche. If London is not in your top 10 places to visit, you should highly consider it!

Paris: Au Revoir, Forever?

When you think of Paris, what comes to mind? Love? Romance? Pasta? Whatever it is that draws to Paris, it is a city full of mystery, twinkling lights, and the best wine on Earth. I had the great pleasure of being able to visit Paris a few years back with my family, and if it were not for Covid-19, I would be back in a heartbeat. I know it is difficult for all of us to have the internal conflict of wanting to go and explore the world, yet wanting to keep us and others safe during this pandemic. I have never felt so mystified and completely engulfed by a city before. If you are planning to head to Paris shortly, it is listed as a Level 3 by the CDC, which indicates rescheduling due to issues with Covid-19. However, if you are still determined to make the trek, you will not be disappointed. Due to the pandemic, Expedia has roundtrip flights from Minneapolis to Paris for as low as $1,000.

The Other City That Never Sleeps

Paris offers a large number of attractions to keep you busy from sunrise to sunset. Some of my recommendations for Paris include:

  • The Eiffel Tower
  • The Palace of Versailles
  • The Champs De Elysee
  • The Louvre Museum
  • The Notre Dame
  • The Arc De Triomphe

Between the shopping on the Champs De Elysee, the beautiful sights of the city from the top of the Eiffel Tower, and the exquisite artwork displayed in the Louvre Museum, there is absolutely no shortage of attractions and activities to keep you on your feet all day.

Things to Keep in Mind While in Paris

As is common when traveling to any new country or city, there are always things you want to be careful to keep you and your travel companions safe and experience a joyful trip. These include:

  • Avoid talking to strangers selling bootleg alcohol or cigarettes
  • Don't walk on the dark or less-traveled streets alone at night
  • Make a note to check if the restaurant you are dining at accepts tips; in some countries, tips may be seen as disrespectful
  • Do not point or stand in traffic to try to take photographs

If you follow these steps, you will have a glorious time in the city of love. I hope one day we are all able to travel safely again, and I wish nothing more but for all of you to be able to experience the magic that lies within Paris. Everyone deserves to feel like they are in a truly magical place once in their life. Hopefully, one day, we won't have to feel guilty about leaving the house and exploring the world.
